2022 Recap & 2023 Plans

Once again, I failed miserably at updating my blog during most of 2022. About the only thing I updated regularly were my Finishes page and my Current WIPs page because I love being able to keep track of those things for historical purposes here on my blog. That all being said, one of my goals for 2023 is to get back to posting here on my blog, even if it's only a monthly status update. My more day-to-day updates will continue to be over on my Instagram account.

2022 Stitching Recap

I thought it would be fun to do a very high level review of what I accomplished with my stitching last year. Here are the numbers showing how my 2022 stitching year went:

WIPs on January 1, 2022 55
New Starts in 2022 19
Finishes in 2022 22
Sent to Time Out in 2022 3
Active WIPs on December 1, 2022 49

2023 Stitching Plans

  • WIPs - After three years of participating in WIPGO, I've decided to sit it out for 2023. Instead, I've decided to go back and do a round of WIPocalypse again this year. I used to participate about 8-10 years ago, so it will be fun to do it again this year. I would really like to make some good progress this year getting some of my WIPs finished and I just feel like I can meet that goal more doing WIPocalypse than I can by doing WIPGO. I'll share my WIPocalpyse goals on January 8 in my first "official" post for the challenge.
  • 12 Days of Christmas Stocking Club - I participated in the 12 Days of Christmas Stocking Club by Annie Beez Folkart through Crazy Annie's. I stitched the first two stockings right away when I received the charts, but then never stitched any of the others as I received them. I would really like to get the rest of them stitched this year, if possible.
  • A Year at Hawk Run Hollow - One of my stitchy bucket list items for many years has been to stitch one of the Hawk Run Hollow pieces from Carriage House Samplings, so I've decided 2023 is the year to finally make it happen. I've chosen A Year at Hawk Run Hollow for my "New Year New Start" project this year. Rather than stitching it as one large piece, I'm planning to stitch each monthly block separately. I plan to finish them using a magnetic mount on a tobacco style basket frame from 141DesignCompanyShop on Etsy. I've already purchased the frame, so I'll be good to go for FFO'ing my blocks once I have the stitching completed. I'm not saying I'll get all 12 blocks done this year since I really want to get some WIPs finished, but we'll see how it goes. Here is the progress I made for day one on the January block.

Well, that wraps up my recap for last year and my plans for 2023. As I mentioned above, I'll be back on January 8 with a post detailing my plans for WIPocalpyse.

  1. Looks like a great year and a great plan for 2023! I participated in the NYE12x12 this year as well as last. In 2022, I started only a handful of other projects so I think I'm good with starts for this year. Who knows what else will happen! I hope you have been well - no more embolisms allowed - and hope to see you soon on Flosstube should you be so inclined!
